Sustainability Policy
At Fota Island Adventure, we believe that sustainable tourism is tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic, social, and environmental impacts while addressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment, and host communities (UNWTO, n.d.). We therefore aim to reduce our negative effects and increase our positive impacts.

Continuous
Improvement
Sustainability is a journey of continuous improvement, and we are aware that we have a lot to learn. So far, we have created a learning centre in the woodlands of Fota Island Resort, which has an existing zero impact ethos. We are constantly impressing on our customers to not bring waste into our environment. Going forward, we ensure that all new products that will embrace sustainability and reduce waste.
Waste
Production
To reduce our waste usage, we request that our customers do not bring single use plastics to the centre. We regularly (weekly) measure and review our waste bins and aim to reduce the consumption from 3 bins to 1 bin through education and enforcement.
